Traffic Light Signals
Traffic lights are used to control the flow of traffic. They’re also known as traffic lamps, stop lights, stop and go lights and robots. They’re designed specifically for use as signalling devices and they are positioned where the road intersects to flows of traffic, be it motor vehicles or traffic, such as pedestrian crossings, a crossroads or any other locations to control the flow of traffic.
Most of the cities around the world have these installed to see the road users using lights in standard colours. Large code is universal and it has a precise sequence, as well as the colours used are red, amber and green. The complete sequence is very great for people who are colour blind.
The traffic lights that are most commonly in use consist of a set of three lights, red, amber and green. They are often set up in a vertical position with all the red light at the top, amber light in the center and the green light at the bottom. In some countries traffic lights could be set up horizontal.
Each time a vehicle approaches a set of traffic lights and also the light on the signal is red, it’s an indication to that vehicle to avoid. The amber light indicates that the lights are going to change, either to red in order to green depending on which place in the world you are in. How long the amber light is illuminated may vary and in many places it is 5 seconds. Occasionally it may be as little as 3 seconds which considerably reduces the time the driver has got to react. These times generally vary in accordance with the set speed limit, and longer times receive for higher speed limits.
Lights are used in other types of road signs for example ‘ Slow Down’ signs and fog symptoms which are illuminated when asked, or in the case of your slow down sign they might be electronically activated as the speeding vehicle approaches.
